. the secretary pushing iraq leaders to end sectarian violence. steve is joining us live from washington with more on this story. >> reporter: the central issue here is whether iraq's president the prime minister, that is, a she'ite muslim is helping to support the assad regime in syria. now, secretary kerry met with iraqi president nouri al-maliki during a visit in baghdad today. those iranian flights were at the top of the agenda. they had what kerry described as a spirited discussion. here is the secretary. >> anything that supports president assad is problematic and you i made it very clear to the prime minister that the overflights from iran are in fact helping to sustain president assad and his regime. >> reporter: the u.s. believes the iranian aircraft flying over iraq are carrying weapons to arm the syrian government but tehran says they are delivering only humanitarian aid there. they wanted to force the planes for inspections but only a few have been checked. >> i think the intent here by going public is to increase the pressure on al-maliki but the whole incident how minimal influence i
anywhere. salon -- msnbc cycle co-host, steve kornacki will be taking over for me. he will be hosting the show at this desk, the same format, time slot and spirit. he's a fantastic analyst and curious and deeply kind and good-natured you ared. i think he's an absolute perfect fit. during the republican primary season when i was asked to host live coverage on the saturday night of the main caucus, i would characterize my knowledge of republican party politics as fairly limited but somehow we had the good fortune of knowing steve who knew every single politician in the state, what races they won and lost and how the political disputes were laying out. if you crave deep knowledge, you're going to love steve. also, another bit of good news for uppers, the executive producer of this show, jonathan larson who has been my partner in developing the show is going to stay with up with steve so the high standards he's brought to the production of the show will remain. you should know i'll be watching up with steve kornacki on saturday april 13th, you should too. if you enjoy the show and format

because at steve's the system a lot of time and money rather than going through a trial that's expensive and lasts for days and moves the case so there's a lot of people in the plea bargaining system that benefits from that process. if it's there it's not fair for example if the prosecutor makes a plea bargain with the defendant but doesn't tell the defendant of the evidence against him or doesn't reveal to the defendant that there is exculpatory evidence don't tend to show the defendant is not guilty if the prosecutor suppresses that, doesn't turn it over to the defense that isn't fair. >> is that legal? >> guest: it is not. the of a constitutional obligation to turn over all exculpatory evidence in brady versus maryland it's called brady material he will hear it called. many people remember the duke lacrosse case in north carolina were the prosecutor had this evidence showing that the young men on the team were probably not guilty because none of their dna was found and he suppressed that and ended up getting disbarred in that case which is in and of itself unusual because frequent pro
